Rosemary Connell Boss
Our Loving Mother
On a peaceful afternoon, September 22, 2008 Rosemary Connell Boss passed away surrounded by her loving family. Rosemary’s spirit wished to stay longer, but her body would not cooperate. She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. She had a wide circle of friends and was known for remembering birthdays and anniversaries with thoughtful gifts and cards. Born March 1, 1935 to William Connell and Ivy Robison Connell in Ogden, Utah, she was the oldest of three daughters. She loved learning and attended East High School, graduating from BYU. She married Gordon Mann Boss on June 26, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their family in East Millcreek. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving valiantly in numerous callings with one of her fondest memories being the Stake Primary President. Teaching and loving children were threads that went throughout her life and career. Prior to raising her family she taught 2nd grade. She also worked as a librarian at Holladay Elementary and Bonneville Jr. High. She was devoted to her beloved husband, Gordon. When he died suddenly in May 1987, it was a real challenge for her that she met with a sunny disposition and loads of courage. Although a BYU graduate, she became an enthusiastic Ute fan, rarely missing a home game with her family. She treasured being with her grandchildren and traveling with family and friends. Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her son Steven (Hollie), daughter Lisa Petersen (Rees), son Greg (Natalie) all of Salt Lake, and daughter Tricia Eliason (Greg) of Gregory, South Dakota. 11 grandchildren: Gabrielle, Hali, Alexandra, Savannah, Stevie Boss; Rachel, Garrett Petersen; Morgan, Jonathan, Benjamin Boss and Jacob Eliason. Sisters, Patricia Howells (Tim) and Christine Kirkman (Kirby), sister-in-law, Carol Rawlins (Bob), cousins and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, and dependable canine friend, Maynard Beau Boss.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at noon at the LDS Chapel at 3408 S. Celeste Way (3120 East). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr., Friday, September 26 from 6:00-8:00 pm, or Saturday from 10:30-11:45 am prior to the service at the LDS Chapel. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express thanks to her many great friends and neighbors, and the staff of Highland Care Center. Share condolences at www.mem.com. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Utah.
